Should My Cat Have Kittens? To Breed or Not to Breed?

I have read the Breed Standard for My Breed of Cat and it does not quite Measure up to the Standard.

YOUR CAT IS NOT OF BREEDING QUALITY AND SHOULD BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

Longhaired Bengal - Does not meet the StandardThere are so very many cats being put to sleep each day that it makes no sense to breed a cat without a good reason. If your cat does not meet the standard then all you will be producing are more cats that have made no advancement for the breed. Breeding your cat will produce more kittens but, there are enough kittens that already need homes if all you seek is to have kittens.

The only reason to breed is a desire to improve the breed - If your cat does does not meet the standard how can it possibly improve the breed to breed it.

Responsible breeders of purebred cats attempt to breed their cats to conform to the standard for their breed. A responsible breeder would never consider breeding a cat that has not been certified healthy and free of Genetic and Contagious disease. Certified clean and healthy by a practicing Veterinarian, ensures soundness to an animal prior to breeding. By successfully breeding cats that are clear for genetic and health disorders it ensures a healthy breed and such orders can hopefully be eliminated through time. No anmal should be bred that has not been certified. No animal deserves to suffer or be in pain because it was born from an animal that was not sound. Let alone the pain that the owners go through if their pet is suffering from something that could have possibly been prevented.
